at the crossroad (not again?!)
|
Hi friends,
Thanks for the constant visits and shouts reminding me to update my blog. I know that i've neglected this blog for quite some time, stopping by only to post some pics and a little caption. i apologize for not saying 'hi' to you often.
Well, a little update on my life. I've been working as a part time english teacher for a famous language course in Jakarta (or so they doctrined, hehe). The contract says it's part time job, but the preparation for each lesson is so time consuming it's likely to be called full timer. Currently I'm teaching 5 classes per week, 2-3 meetings/week for each class, each meeting consists of 1-2 hours. So i teach about 25-30 hours per week. Plus, the preparation for each lesson takes about 2 hours; that's an additional 20 hours weekly. And the money?? I must say it covers my living cost only and a meager balance for a little luxury.
Ok so what now?? Finding another job is a must and the money must be good enough to pay off the penalty due to terminating my contract at the language school. The contract comes with a penalty for one-sided termination because i was provided with the free Teacher Training Program. Luckily they can offer an installment program so i can pay it off in 3 months before i can get my certificate back.
But leaving this job is not that easy because I found myself getting attached to it, especially to the students. Many people said that i fit perfectly into an ideal type of teacher and eventhough i'm not as cheerful as my colleagues, the students are responding pretty well especially the teenagers and adults. I'm fortunate enough to gain trust amongst the teachers especially when it comes to training Business English. And there is also one girl that became quite close to me. But of course we're strictly friends since she's not sharing the same faith with me.
Anyway, it's Ramadhan and Hari Raya season in indonesia so I'm expecting the business activities to be slower. I hope it will become better after the Hari Raya so that I can start selecting the job vacancies, rushing to apply, waiting their responses, interviews, and finally entering the new company some time in End/December or Early/January. Although a friend told me otherwise that i will stay in the current company for longer period, I chose not to put his words into my mind because trusting God is everything than trusting men, let alone a "wise man".
That's my struggle, guys. Pray for me, OK :) |
